KARACHI: Shahid Afridi, the former captain of Pakistan, has finally gotten around to discussing the opinions of Indian batsman Virat Kohli over his trip to Pakistan.
The following is what Afridi had to say about the tape ball event that took place in Karachi on Saturday: “I expected such a comment from Virat. I extend my warmest greetings to Kohli, regardless of whether he is playing for the Indian squad or the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Shehroze Kashif, a Pakistani climber, shared a video of his talk with Kohli, in which the star batter could be heard expressing optimism of visiting Pakistan. Afridi’s comments come after Kashif tweeted the footage.
Due to the fact that I have personal contacts in India with whom I have a substantial amount of friendship, I was had to erase the video because they demanded that I do so.
“I beg you, please don’t grossly exaggerate this situation. Let’s remind ourselves of the bigger picture and avoid causing problems that aren’t essential […]The description that was attached to his social media posts said, “It is disheartening to see such insecurity over a fan simply talking to their favorite athlete.”
“This is also affecting Kohli,” Kashif said in a video that was uploaded to his social media accounts. He also stated that it was “so nice” of the Indian batter to reach out to him after reading some headlines about him.
As the climber expressed his disappointment, he stated, “It is actually sad and I’m very disappointed.” He went on to emphasize that unfortunately, what should have been utilized to convey a positive message was in fact viewed negatively.
He made this statement in reference to the coverage that the Indian batter was receiving in the Indian news media. “We should have taken this as a positive message rather than creating a controversy around such a great player,” he remarked.
Kashif emphasized that Pakistani sports figures are not insecure about their relationship with their Indian counterparts and stated that there are no boundaries in sports. He also stated that there are no competitors in sports.
My best wishes go out to you, your family, and all of your close friends. In the video, Kohli can be heard saying, “I hope that we will be able to visit Pakistan in the near future, as everyone else has already begun planning trips there.”
Due to the controversy that developed and in light of his personal relationships in the neighboring countries, Kashif has subsequently erased the video, which dates back to 2022. This decision was made in light of the fact that the video became controversial.
