Sunny Leone denied permission to perform at Kerala University

According to Malayalam media sites, Kerala University's vice-chancellor has denied Bollywood actor Sunny Leone permission to do a dance event at the University College of Engineering campus in Thiruvananthapuram on July 5.

According to a report on On Manorama, Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal, vice-chancellor of Kerala University, asked the registrar to ensure Leone's performance was not listed in the program list.

This decision comes after a sad occurrence in November last year, when a stampede at a concert at Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) in Ernakulam killed four students and injured over 60 others before to singer Nikita Gandhi's performance at a music festival.

Following the event, the Kerala High Court ruled that the rush at the annual tech festival was plainly caused by "some failure" and "should never have happened".

Following the recent stampede-related deaths during union activities at Thiruvananthapuram Engineering College and Cusat, the state government has prohibited external DJ parties and music nights on campus.

The vice-chancellor emphasized that, despite this directive, the University College union attempted to organize a dance program without the university's approval.

He stated that such programs would not be permitted on or off campus in the name of the union.

The 43-year-old will appear in an upcoming Malayalam film. In April, she posted a photo of the muhurat ritual on Instagram, expressing her enthusiasm for the initiative despite inadvertently burning her hands.
