Modi 3.0 With 72 Ministers Takes Oath, 9 New Faces In Cabinet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the new coalition government's 71 ministers took their oath of office today.  

Thirty of them are Cabinet Ministers, five independent charge, and 36 ministers of state.  

PM Modi, 73, will lead a coalition administration in his third term, or Modi 3.0, for the first time since he was elected Prime Minister in 2014 following a massive   

"Brand Modi" victory after ten years of United Progressive Alliance rule.  

He is the second Prime Minister, following Jawaharlal Nehru, to be elected for a third term in a row.  

He won the election for Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh reserved seat.  

Supporters of politicians called to the platform clapped and cheered loudly as they saw their leaders approach towards the microphone to be sworn in by the President.  

Hardeep Singh Puri, a veteran diplomat who helped India manage two consecutive oil crises, was among the ministers sworn in today.  

Chirag Paswan, the chief of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has reinforced his place as his father's "real" political heir after being admitted into the Narendra Modi cabinet today.
