Arvind Kejriwal was brought to judicial detention after surrendering at Tihar Jail.

Delhi's Rouse Avenue court on Sunday remanded Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in judicial custody until June 5 in connection with a money laundering investigation related to the liquor policy matter.

After surrendering, Kejriwal was brought before magistrate Sanjeev Aggarwal via a virtual conference.

On May 20, when Arvind Kejriwal was out on temporary bail, the Enforcement Directorate filed an application to extend his judicial detention for fourteen days.

Arvind Kejriwal's lawyers, Rishikesh Kumar and Vivek Jain, rejected the application, claiming that his arrest in the matter had been challenged before the Supreme Court.

Last month, the Supreme Court's office refused to accept Kejriwal's request for an extension of temporary bail, stating he might approach the lower court.

The AAP chief later petitioned the Delhi court for an extension of his temporary bail. He also sought regular bail.

On Saturday, the Enforcement Directorate opposed Kejriwal's request for interim bail, arguing that the lower court cannot change the Supreme Court's order to surrender on June 2.
