Goa, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Assam, and Meghalaya are all on an orange alert for heavy rains, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has projected heatwave to severe heatwave conditions across the nation until June 9.

IMD heatwave prediction:

On June 8 and 9, the weather bureau warned that a heatwave could hit certain areas of Uttar Pradesh as well as some Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand.

Isolated areas in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and East Madhya Pradesh are expected to experience heatwave conditions, according to IMD’s predictions made today.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for parts of Uttar Pradesh for June 6, with heatwave to severe heatwave conditions expected in other areas from June 7 to 9.

According to IMD data, yesterday the temperatures were 46 degrees Celsius in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, 45.6 degrees Celsius in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, 45.3 degrees Celsius in Rohtak, Haryana, 44.4 degrees Celsius in Delhi, 44.4 degrees Celsius in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, and 43.1 degrees Celsius in Ludhiana, Punjab.

IMD rainfall prediction:

Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be between 35 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively, with a typically cloudy sky and the risk of light to moderate rain in the city and suburbs, according to RMC Mumbai.

Partly overcast skies, duststorms followed by thunderstorms, very light rain, and strong surface winds are what the national capital may expect today, according to RWFC Delhi.

Several districts in Karnataka, including Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Bagalkote, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal, Raichur, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Tumkur, and Vijayanagara districts are expected to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the coming days.

The Indian Meteorological Department has also issued an orange warning for Assam and Meghalaya on June 7 and 8, as well as heavy rains in the Konkan and Goa on June 8 and 9, as well as in Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal Karnataka on June 9.

Over the next four days, the meteorological bureau has issued a weather alert for Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Vidarbha, and Madhya Pradesh, predicting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph).

Over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, the forecast called for light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (30-40 kmph) in the coming two to three days.

On June 5 and 7, there is a high probability of thundershowers, lightning, and gusty winds (30-50 kmph) across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. On June 6, there is a similar likelihood over Uttar Pradesh, while on June 5 and 8, there is a high probability over Rajasthan.

Multiple cyclonic circulations and a Western Disturbance will produce extensive rainfall in the next days:

The northeastern states may expect their weather to be impacted by a cyclonic circulation that is presently above Assam, together with strong southwesterly and southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal. The IMD has issued a five-day weather forecast for the following states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim, predicting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over these regions.

Between June 6 and 10, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim can expect scattered heavy rainstorms. On June 10, heavy rainfall is expected in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

Over the next five days, the Indian Meteorological Department predicts light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) in the following regions: Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Marathwada, Saurashtra & Kutch, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Madhya Maharashtra. Between June 6 and 8, similar weather is predicted in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Kerala and Mahe.

From June 6–10, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra will see isolated heavy rainfall, while Marathwada can expect the same from June 6–8. On June 6–9, heavy rain will fall across interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe. On June 8, 9, and 10, coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal will have heavy rain. On June 6 and 7, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Rayalaseema will also receive heavy rain.

Between June 8 and 10, Konkan and Goa might see some heavy rain, and on June 9 and 10, coastal Karnataka and Madhya Maharashtra could see the same thing.

Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) will be brought to Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal during the next two to three days by a cyclonic circulation over northwest Madhya Pradesh that is connected to a trough that extends to West Bengal. For the next four or five days, these circumstances are predicted to affect Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh.

Between June 6 and 8, West Madhya Pradesh could get a few hailstorms and squally winds of 50 to 60 kmph. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands should expect strong winds (25-35 kmph) for the next five days. On June 9 and 10, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will anticipate heavy rainfall, while Odisha can expect heavy rainfall in few isolated spots from June 6 to 8.

The northwest plains are being affected by a Western Disturbance (WD), which is marked by a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies. Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand can expect light rains, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) on June 6 and 7, according to the IMD.

It is probable that Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may have isolated hailstorms on June 6. The states of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan should anticipate moderate rainfall scattered throughout the day on June 6 and 7, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph). On June 6, there will likely be dust storms across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. On June 6 and 7, dust storms will also hit Rajasthan. It is highly probable that West Rajasthan will have an isolated hailstorm on June 7.
