Actress Rani Mukerji and director Karan Johar addres-sed the Australian parliament ahead of the Indian Film Festival Melbourne. ‘Proud to represent India girl’ said the actor and is ‘manifesting’ films for her and Shah Rukh Khan with Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman.
‘We adore them in India’
“I feel proud to be here representing the Indian film fraternity along with my dear friend Karan Johar in the Australian Parliament house, talking about something which is very close and special in our hearts—that’s the history of cinema that we can offer. This is a very emotional moment for India and Australia in terms of their cultural relationship with each other,” Rani began by saying.
She further shared, “Cinema has always united people and between India and Australia we couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to create together in the world of movies.” She said “Earlier in India our movies have always united families and communities, and now I see that even going global. Indian living away from their homeland have always stayed connected by watching movies of their motherland, today India is leading pop culture. They bring colour and joy into people’s lives. There’s no time better than this to share our stories with the world.”
Rani then went on to name the Australian celebrities she believes are loved in India, stating, “We just love Baz Luhrmann and his cinema and musicals. Then, of course, you have Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, who we just love in India. They have captured our hearts by their acting capabilities and flair for musicals. “I’m really manifesting though, onto a love story with Nichole Kidman and Shah Rukh Khan. And, of course, a Hugh Jackman and Rani Mukerji musical as well.”
