The 11th of May, Faridabad: The distinguished Justice RC Lahoti Memorial Lecture Series is a celebration of the rich heritage of Honorable Justice Lahoti, and the School of Law at Manav Rachna University (MRU) has the rare distinction of establishing this series.
The purpose of this yearly legal lecture series at Manav Rachna University is to shed light on the road that aspiring and present law professionals should take by revisiting the endeavors, verdicts, and memories of Justice R. C. Lahoti, who was a jurist of exceptional caliber.
The gracious presence of Honorable Shri Ram Nath Kovind, a former President of India, as the esteemed Chief Guest on the occasion added a significant dimension to the event and made it a historic moment in legal study and tribute. This was a moment that would be remembered for a long time. As the Guest of Honor, Honorable Justice UU Lalit, who had previously served as the Chief Justice of India, was present.
Prof. (Dr.) Deependra Kumar Jha, Vice Chancellor of Manav Rachna University, extended a warm welcome to the guests and stressed the ways in which Justice RC Lahoti continues to motivate students with his morals and principles.
His establishment of the Ratan Lal Lahoti Gold Medal, the Ratan Lal Lahoti Library of Law, and the Law Advisory Board for the School of Law at Manav Rachna University all serve as a source of academic incentive and a matter of pride for the students of law at the University. He also established the Ratan Lal Lahoti Gold Medal.
“This is a momentous occasion for the School of Law at Manav Rachna University, as it marks the beginning of a lecture series that is dedicated to honoring one of the most renowned legal geniuses in the nation. This series will prove to be an excellent chance for learning, and I strongly encourage all law students to take in as much information as they can from this platform in order to put it to use for the benefit of society as a whole.
Dr. Archana Mantri, the daughter of the Honorable (late) Justice RC Lahoti, provided some sincere views on the tremendous legacy that is linked with her revered father. She shed light on the enormous impact that Justice Lahoti had not only on the field of law but also on the broader landscape of education and the development of society.
She did so with a great deal of reverence and affection. “Justice Lahoti had a strong desire to acquire knowledge on a variety of topics, particularly technology, which he believed would be a game-changer for the area of law. “He approached his work with a divine purpose each and every day, and he lived a life that was characterized by integrity, empathy, and a lifelong dedication to truth and discipline,” she said.
Justice UU Lalit gave a presentation in which he reflected on the judicial discourse of the Honorable Justice RC Lahoti. He stated, “There is no denying that Justice Lahoti was an institution unto himself.” The conversations he had in the courtroom were not only about delivering justice; they were also about creating precedents that will be applicable and acceptable to the entire community for many years to come.
It was Justice Lalit’s speech on Justice Lahoti’s journey that highlighted the significance of his judicial legacy. In his lecture, Justice Lalit elaborated on many judgments that went beyond the realm of law.
During his Presidential Address, the revered Sh. Ramnath Kovind, who had previously served as the President of India, reflected on his loving memories of Justice Lahoti, underlining his virtuous character and significant influence while doing so. When he was asked about Justice RC Lahoti, he stated, “It is not often that we come across individuals like Justice Lahoti who are known for their dedication to judicial independence, integrity, and profound humility in expressing his views and in upholding the rule of law.”
It is something that all of us could strive to do in our day-to-day lives, since he exhibited a profound sense of tolerance and dignity. The 14th President of India praised the MRU School of Law for its honoring of such a distinguished figure and encouraged the students to continue their education throughout their lives.
As someone who believes in the importance of giving back to the community, he encouraged both current and aspiring attorneys to offer their services for free in order to gain the sense of personal fulfillment that comes along with doing so.
The first lecture of the Justice RC Lahoti Memorial Lecture Series is a representation of Manav Rachna’s dedication to sustaining the principles and principles with which Justice Lahoti was concerned. The occasion was brought to a close with a vote of appreciation being proposed by Dr. Kanu Priya, who is the Dean of the School of Law at MRU. For the audience, which was mostly consisted of dignitaries from the legal community,
members of the bar and bench, attorneys, advocates, and students of law, the presence of the Lahoti family provided an additional dimension of significance to the event.
