Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to interact with 25,000 women at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University ground in Varanasi, as part of his visit to the region on Tuesday. This significant event is organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and includes participants from various professional backgrounds such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, professors, chartered accountants, and teachers. The program is set to begin around 4 p.m.
The event in Varanasi is meticulously planned, with BJP’s local unit inviting 10 women from each of the 1,909 booths in the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, ensuring a diverse and representative attendance. Navaratan Rathi, the Kashi region BJP spokesperson, emphasized that all preparations for the interaction have been completed. The initiative aims to celebrate women’s participation and achievements, as well as highlight the government’s efforts in women’s empowerment.
Archana Mishra, the BJP’s state unit secretary and Mahila Morcha in-charge, mentioned that the Prime Minister’s decision to visit again was influenced by the enthusiastic participation in his Kashi roadshow on May 13. The BJP’s women wing has been actively involved in mobilizing women for this event through door-to-door invitations.
Ashwini Tyagi, the Lok Sabha coordinator and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), highlighted Modi’s contributions to women’s upliftment over his tenure, including the enactment of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which ensures 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.
After the interaction, Prime Minister Modi will spend the night at the BLW guest house in Varanasi. The following day, he is scheduled to address an election rally at the Government Polytechnic Ground in Prayagraj. This rally will see the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Anupriya Patel, who will share the stage with the Prime Minister.
Basti Superintendent of Police, Gopal Krishna Chowdhury, noted that extensive security measures have been put in place for the rally. The Special Protection Group (SPG) has already inspected the venue, and a no-flying zone has been declared in nearby areas. The use of drones or balloons has been banned from May 20 to May 22 to ensure the security of the events.
This visit underscores Modi’s continuous engagement with the electorate, particularly focusing on women’s issues and empowerment, ahead of the upcoming elections. It reflects the BJP’s strategic emphasis on women’s participation and their pivotal role in the political landscape.
