Yadav’s announcement is seen as an effort to force the Congress to choose.On Saturday, Samajwadi Party head Akhilesh Yadav surprised everyone by unilaterally announcing eleven seats for the Congress in Uttar Pradesh.
This comes at a time when Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) is getting ready to leave the INDIA bloc and rejoin the NDA, which is led by the BJP, and the Congress is attempting to appease Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. The Congress, which was taken aback, stated that discussions over seat-sharing with the SP are still ongoing.

Yadav’s announcement is seen as an effort to force the Congress to choose. “If the Congress presents the names of winnable candidates on some additional seats, we will certainly consider giving those seats,” a top SP functionary said in an interview with The Indian Express.
Currently, Amethi and Rae Bareli, which were once considered to be bastions of the Congress party, as well as Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, and Bareilly, are among the seats that the Congress will be in the process of contesting.During the Lok Sabha elections that took place in 2019, the Congress party attempted to win 67 of the 80 seats, but they were only able to win one of them (Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli). Additionally, the Congress received a meager 6.36 percent of the vote across the state.The BJP’s number dropped from 71 to 62 as a result of the combined efforts of the BSP and the SP which had fought together.
As a result of their agreement, the BSP campaigned for 38 seats, while the SP managed to get 37 seats. Despite the fact that the BSP was able to get ten seats with a vote share of 19.43 percent, the SP was only able to secure five seats with a vote share of 18.11 percent.It has been reported by sources within the SP that the party has made a demand to the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh for one Lok Sabha seat so that they can run in partnership.

In response to Yadav, Jairam Ramesh, the head of communication for the Congress, was quoted as saying that discussions between the SP and the Congress are still ongoing and that senior Congressman Ashok Gehlot had been in contact with Yadav.
“…the conversations are moving forward to a constructive direction. When the formula for seat sharing has been finalized, we will make an announcement. In light of the fact that Yadav himself has informed us today that the negotiations are still taking place and that he is pleased with the discussions,On behalf of my party, I would like to convey that Gehlot and Yadav are in communication with one another; they are planning to meet in the near future; the arrangement will be advantageous for the SP, Congress, and the INDIA bloc.He stated, “When the talks are finished…when the picture becomes clear…then and only then will I be able to say what the formula is.”
It was Ajay Rai, the chairman of the Congress unit in Uttar Pradesh, who reiterated this sentiment. He said that the decision will be made by the national alliance committee of Congress, which is led by Mukul Wasnik. He went on to say that the conversation was taking place in a very upbeat environment, and that this was going to result in a wonderful and powerful outcome very soon.
According to sources within the SP, however, Yadav’s remark was made following a recent conversation that he had with Gehlot and Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress party.”The Congress of the United States demanded more than twenty seats. Nevertheless, the SP had previously consented to provide eight seats. It was determined that any prominent leaders of the Congress party would have a discussion with Akhilesh Yadav in the event that the Congress party insisted on having additional seats. “Talks between the SP and Congress for an alliance for the Assembly elections failed due to local Congress unit leaders,” a senior leader of the SP said in reference to the organization’s demand for a seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. The BJP has targeted the Yadav vote bank in both Bihar and Uttar Pradesh by selecting Mohan Yadav to serve as the chief minister of the state of Madhya Pradesh. If the Congress allows the SP to run for a seat in the seat of the Member of Parliament, Akhilesh would campaign there in an effort to convey a message to the voters of the Yadav party.
