Arvind Kejriwal was brought to judicial detention after surrendering at Tihar Jail.

In line with the investigation into money laundering that is connected to the liquor policy case, the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi placed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal under judicial detention on Sunday and will continue to do so till June 5th. The decision that was done by the court took place not too long after the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) turned himself in to the authorities at Tihar Jail upon the expiration of his interim bail, which had a lifespan of 21 days.

When Arvind Kejriwal was released on bail for a term of fourteen days on May 20, the Enforcement Directorate submitted a request to extend his judicial custody for an additional fourteen days until he was released.

In response to the plea, the attorneys for Arvind Kejriwal, Rishikesh Kumar, and Vivek Jain noted that their client’s arrest in the matter has been contested before the Supreme Court. As a result, the plea was dismissed. Approximately one month ago, the office of the Supreme Court turned down Kejriwal’s request for an extension of the temporary release that he had been granted. Kejriwal is permitted to address the lower court, according to the statement made by the office.

Afterwards, the leader of the AAP submitted a petition to the court in Delhi, demanding that his interim freedom be extended for a longer period of time. In addition, he asked for regular bail and submitted his application. In a statement that was made public on Saturday, the Enforcement Directorate voiced its disagreement to Kejriwal’s request for interim bail. The statement stated that the lower court is unable to change the instruction that the Supreme Court issued to surrender on June 2. In addition, the agency stated that Kejriwal would be expected to surrender first before making an application for interim bail. This was another allegation that was made by the agency.

In a statement that was released earlier this week, the leader of the AAP indicated that he required further time outside of jail in order to undergo a battery of tests in order to remove the possibility of a major disease. The fact that he asserted that he had lost six kilograms of weight since he was taken into custody on March 21 is a symptom that may be indicative of the fact that he is suffering from a major disease.

Based on the testimony provided by the agency in front of the court, it was determined that his weight had increased by one kilogram. Not only that, but he was also accused of providing the court with incorrect information. While Kejriwal was out on interim bail, it was reported that he was given the opportunity to go through the examinations.
