PM Modi unveils development projects worth Rs 11,600 cr in Assam

Sunday, Assam was the site of the unveiling of development projects valued at Rs 11,600 crore by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, Guwahati, was the site of the unveiling ceremony for the infrastructural projects, which would get funding from both the state and federal governments.

The foundation stones were laid for a number of significant projects, including the (498 crore) Kamakhya temple corridor, (358 crore) the six-lane road from Guwahati’s new airport terminal, (831 crore) the upgrade of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards, and (300 crore) a new sports complex in Chandrapur.

The prime minister also launched the second iteration of the “Asom Mala” road program. At a cost of 3,444 crore Indian rupees, this stage will see the improvement and construction of 43 new roads, along with 38 concrete bridges.

On top of that, Modi was the one to lay the cornerstone of the 3,250-crore-strong Gauhati Medical College and Hospital’s new integrated structure.
The proposed Karimganj Medical College and Hospital, with an estimated cost of 578 crore rupees, and the Unity Mall in Guwahati, with an estimated cost of 297 crore rupees, were also laid by him.

Two new four-lane roads, one connecting Biswanath Chariali and Gohpur and the other linking Dolabari and Jamuguri, were opened by Modi. The first route had a cost of 1,451 crore rupees, while the second had a cost of 592 crore.

After flying in on Saturday night, Modi spent the night at the city’s Koinadhara State Guest House.
He met with the state core committee office bearers of the BJP late at night, according to a senior official, and they talked party business.
“In the meeting, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, state minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, state BJP President Bhabesh Kalita and other party leaders were present,” according to him.
