‘It’s not mythology that’s missing’

In a recent interview, Veda director Nikhil Advani shared his thoughts on South cinema and what is missing in Bollywood at the moment.

‘Everyone thinks south cinema is about mythology’:

Nikhil said that while everyone thinks South Indian films are about fairy tales, they are really about creating courage in special situations.

“Everyone thinks Southern cinema is mythic, but it captures the raw emotion,” he said. Like irrigation canals…let’s make a movie about it. Now, they’re tying that up with incredible actions and incredible moments of courage.”

He also stated that when he met Arjun to discuss a film, he was told that Bollywood had ‘forgotten heroism’. He stated, “When I met Allu Arjun and we were discussing making a film, he looked at me and said,

‘You know what’s wrong with Bollywood? You have forgotten how to be heroes. Heroism, not mythology, is what is missing in Hindi films.
